NEW ORACLE DBA

Is there a site to improve my skills since no one will hire me because I do not have DBA experience? Will someone please help and point me to the right direction, because  i like to work as a DBA.

Re: NEW ORACLE DBA

Hi,

I highly recommend becoming OCA certified.  I know some people feel differently but this proves two things:
1. you want to become a DBA bad enough that you're willing to put in some actual work and get certified
2. you are at least smart enough to pass the OCA test

To study for the OCA test you can attend an Oracle class or buy the Oracle CBTs.

Best of luck to you.

Re: NEW ORACLE DBA

I once had a Financial Analyst who was very technically savvy.

I was the DBA and he came to me and asked if he could help improve our Sales Cube.  We worked out a deal where I gave him access to our dev 10g database and he scripted everything up.  Then when it was ready to go I moved his scripts to production.

Is there any chance you could do something similar where you're working?  Are they using Oracle?

You're probably going to need to get creative in order to get some experience.
